Roadrunners Hockey Game!!

Ahh, hockey. It is fast becoming one of my favorite sports to watch. I went to a Roadrunners game at US Airways arena. The Roadrunners are a farm team for our NHL team, the Phoenix Coyotes.

The game was excellent. The Roadrunners piled on the goals, and it was a high action game. Unfortunately, not many fights today, which is one of the high points of any hockey game.

Gotta Tri!

I competed in my second triathlon with three of my friends on February 17th. The triathlon was a sprint-tri, with a 200 meter swim, a 10.5 mile bike, and a 2.5 mile run. The morning started out cold, it was 40 degrees at the start of the race! Luckily, the pool was heated, so that ended up being the warmest part. Getting on a bike, still wet, was interesting. I was so cold, and chattering, my transition time was horrible! But I still wound up finishing in 1 hour and 14 minutes. The website spelled my name wrong. You will find me under Amber Windermuth.

Even though I was last in my age group, I still enjoy competing in the triathlons! I plan on training even harder for my next triathlon, tentatively scheduled for March 30th, and hopefully I will come in next to last. . .

My family also braved the cold to watch my friends and I compete. It was even my mom's birthday! I have to admit, having a cheering section really does help give an extra push to keep giving it all you've got.

Cardinals Beat Detroit!!!

Ahh football. I won tickets to a Cardinal's game through my work United Way Fundraiser. They were great seats, in the upper deck, but on the 50 yard line. There really isn't a bad seat in the University of Phoenix Stadium. The Cardinal defense was on fire, and the Cardinal's pulled off a 31-21 victory. It was the first game for both my friend Becky and I. We enjoyed getting to explore the stadium, both before and after the game. I got a new Cardinal's hat; I chose a funny hat, rather than a ballcap, which was nice when the Air Conditioning kicked on (it is November, I know).

The Westgate shopping center was also very nice. We arrived at the game a few hours early, and found seats in the bar at Gordon Biersch (the Yard House and Fox Sports Grill had waits over 2 hours) and were able to watch the some of the morning games. It was an odd football morning, with a ton of safeties and low scoring games. Pittsburgh pulled out an improbable victory, and Minnesota lost Adrian Peterson to a torn lateral collateral ligament. My Bears also won; defeating the Raiders at Oakland!!!
