Super Bowl XVIII: Cardinals vs. Steelers

After a long and stressful season, the Cardinals entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the NFC West. Even at #1, they were not favored to win any of their matchups. Yet, in a nailbiter, they defeated the Atlanta Falcons. Hope began to appear on the horizon. The next week they dispatched Carolina, at Carolina, in bad weather. People in Phoenix could barely contain their excitement, yet we had so many reasons to doubt, and then, in the NFC Championship, the Cardinals dominated the Eagles. The town went crazy, people were in shock, waiting for ice to coat the I-10, the Cardinals were headed to the Superbowl, led by Larry Fitzgerald & co.

The Cardinals played a good game, but a few huge errors, and the Steelers' coverage of Larry Fitzgerald, lost us the game. But we made it there, and hopefully we will again next year!

There was a lone Steelers fan at the Super Bowl party. Luckily he left at halftime, so we didn't have to watch the celebration at the end of the game.

Cardinals Beat Detroit!!!

Ahh football. I won tickets to a Cardinal's game through my work United Way Fundraiser. They were great seats, in the upper deck, but on the 50 yard line. There really isn't a bad seat in the University of Phoenix Stadium. The Cardinal defense was on fire, and the Cardinal's pulled off a 31-21 victory. It was the first game for both my friend Becky and I. We enjoyed getting to explore the stadium, both before and after the game. I got a new Cardinal's hat; I chose a funny hat, rather than a ballcap, which was nice when the Air Conditioning kicked on (it is November, I know).

The Westgate shopping center was also very nice. We arrived at the game a few hours early, and found seats in the bar at Gordon Biersch (the Yard House and Fox Sports Grill had waits over 2 hours) and were able to watch the some of the morning games. It was an odd football morning, with a ton of safeties and low scoring games. Pittsburgh pulled out an improbable victory, and Minnesota lost Adrian Peterson to a torn lateral collateral ligament. My Bears also won; defeating the Raiders at Oakland!!!

Start of a New Season

Ahh, fall. This is my favorite time of year. Temperatures are starting to reach the low 100's, the cacti are turning colors, and football season has officially begun. My roommates and I subscribe to the DirecTV Sunday Ticket, so we get to watch all of the games! I am rooting for the Bears and Cardinals, and looking forward to tomorrow, which is sure to be filled with friends, fun, and bloody mary's. Well, I have been sans camera for a few weeks, but I hope to remedy that situation soon and continue to update my blog. Happy Football Season!!
